Additional Travel & Accommodation Expenses while abroad
Emergency Medical Expenses
Our policies will cover you for Emergency Medical and other Expenses, provided that you are not travelling to a country or specific area or event to which the Travel Advice Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice or the World Health Organisation (WHO) or similar body has advised against all or all but essential travel.
All individuals named on a family policy can travel independently
of each other. Therefore children are covered to travel separately to their parents.
However, under annual multi-trip policies, if the child is in full time education
at a college or university in or out the Republic of Ireland and:
On the annual multi-trip policy, travel within your country of residence (Ireland and UK only) is covered provided you have 2 or more nights pre-booked accommodation.
Guided cross country skiing, heli-skiing, mono skiing, off-piste skiing or snowboarding, recreational racing, ski-blading, skiing, snow-boarding and snow sledging are all included in the Winter sports option on single trip, annual multi-trip and ski single trip options.
IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION?
If you have an existing or pre-existing medical condition you should contact the medical pre-screening company on 01 261 2009 to declare your condition or conditions. If cover can be provided for the condition they will provide you with a quotation for the extra cover.
However, if you have a private health insurance policy that includes in-patient hospital cover abroad of €55,000, or more, you do not need to declare your existing or pre-existing medical conditions. If, under your private health insurance policy, you have to serve “waiting period” (this is the period during which you are not fully covered under the policy), you must contact our medical pre-screening company to declare any medical conditions.
WHAT WE WILL NOT COVER
In any case, this policy will not provide cover during the period of insurance, if you:
If your health or your ongoing medication changes between the date the policy was bought and the date of travel, you must advise the medical screening team as soon as possible by calling 01 261 2009. They will advise you what cover they are able to provide, after the date of diagnosis. They reserve the right to increase the premium, increase the excess, exclude the condition or withdraw the cover should the stability of the condition make it necessary.
Our policies include emergency medical expenses cover for pregnancy and childbirth from week 0 to week 28 inclusive whilst you are away. From the start of week 29 to week 40 of the pregnancy, there is no cover for claims relating to normal pregnancy and normal childbirth or cancellation. However, medical expenses and cancellation cover will be provided, should complications arise with your pregnancy which fall within the definition of complications of pregnancy and childbirth.
The policy covers you automatically for a number of acceptable sports and leisure activities, as detailed on page 4 of the policy wording. You are covered to bungee jump up to 3 times, as well as being covered for a number of other activities such as scuba diving up to 30 metres. If you are taking part in any additional activities than those listed under the acceptable sports and leisure activities section then a premium loading may apply.
The quote given is directly related to the information you entered. Therefore, if you entered details for yourself and your spouse, then the quote is for both of you together.
You should enter your age at the time of buying the cover.
Payments made in respect of insured items that are lost or stolen will reflect the current value of the items, taking into account wear, tear and depreciation from the date of purchase. No cover whatsoever will apply, if you travel to a country or specific area or event to which the Travel Advice Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice or the World Health Organisation (WHO) or similar body has advised against all or all but essential travel.
