Getcover offers Aviva; VHI; and Quinn Healthcare policyholders a substantial discount where the healthcare policy includes in-patient medical cover abroad of €55,000 or more.


The discount is provided on the principle that there is no point in paying for the same cover twice.


If you avail of the discount, your Getcover policy provides cover as normal except for the portion already provided by your health insurance policy. Your Getcover medical insurance cover wraps around this cover and comes into effect when you have reached the in-hospital medical expenses limit on your private health insurance plan.

  • Your backpacker travel insurance policy includes Personal Accident cover of €38,000.
  • Your backpacker travel insurance includes €4 million worth of medical expenses including emergency assistance and repatriation cover.
  • Backpacker travel insurance cover includes – 3 bungee jumps; diving up to 30m; white water rafting (Grade 1 to 4); and plenty of other activities. So you can have as much fun as possible on your trip!
  • You have the option to include connecting flight cover as part of your backpacker travel insurance. Essential if your trip involves more than 2 flights!
  • You can spend up to 15% of your total trip time in next higher-rated destination area (e.g. pay for Australia/New Zealand cover and you can spend up to 15% of your total trip time anywhere in the World).
